In 2021, Cuono Engineering was contacted by Berman Horn Studio for the structural design of a new, approximately 4,500 SF single story residence in Long Island. The design included a loft over the garage wing and vaulted ceilings throughout. Recently, Project Engineer, Daniel Binello, went out to observe the framing as the structural portions of the project come close to completion.
The framing consists of shallow spread and strip foundations with wood framing and steel framing above. The wood framing includes 2x walls, 2x rafters, and engineered lumber floor framing. The lateral system consists of wood shearwalls, both typical shearwalls and Simpson Strong-Walls. There are also isolated steel columns.
