The Structural Engineers Association of Nebraska (SEAON) held their annual conference last week at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Cuono Engineering's Principal and Founder, Ciro Cuono attended as a guest speaker discussing the impact Artificial Intelligence (AI) has and will have on the structural engineering industry. Exploring how AI is quickly changing the landscape for structural engineers, Ciro discussed the challenges, benefits, historic evolution of the industry and solutions for our future engineers and leaders.
His presentation, "The Importance of Hand Calculations and Rules of Thumb in the Artificial Intelligence Age," is an extended conversation on his titled article featured in STRUCTURE Magazine earlier this year. Ciro is scheduled to present again at the Iowa State ASCE Structural Engineering Conference on November 19th in Ames, Iowa.

Ciro Cuono is the founding Principal of Cuono Engineering with 20 years of structural engineering experience. He is involved with all aspects of the firm's work and leads a staff of 25 (and growing) with offices in Westchester County and New York City. Mr. Cuono currently teaches a graduate class on Historic Preservation and Restoration at Manhattan University. He has been published in STRUCTURE Magazine and ArchPLUS and has spoken at several conferences including the SEI Structures Congress and NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit.
